About

Alina Harbuzova is a first-year PhD student in the department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT, advised by Prof. Guy Bresler. Her research is focused on computational complexity, high-dimensional statistics, and theoretical machine learning. Alina?s recent work established the first computational equivalence between two fundamental models of high-dimensional statistics and will appear at the Conference on Learning Theory (COLT-2025). Alina is a recipient of the Vanu Bose Presidential Fellowship and she holds medals from the International Mathematical Olympiad and the European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad. Alina actively mentors students in the Yulia?s Dream Guided Research Program at MIT, supporting young researchers from Ukraine in their studies of combinatorics
