About

Ruizhong Qiu is an MSCS student at UIUC advised by Dr. Hanghang Tong and was a research intern at Qualcomm AI Research in 2023. Prior to this, he attained a B.E. degree in Industrial Engineering from Tsinghua University. His research interest lies in non-differentiable problems in machine learning. His research has led to 3 publications in top conferences (1 in NeurIPS, 2 in KDD). Besides that, he has also been devoted to leadership and volunteer service. He has been the lead research assistant of a C3.ai DTI research project since Fall 2022. He was Vice Chair in 2021 and Minister of Technology in 2020 at the Student Association for Science and Technology of the Department of Industrial Engineering at Tsinghua University. He has actively contributed to volunteer service, including guiding high school students in planning higher education, assisting people with intellectual disabilities, and helping the illiterate elderly learn smart phones.
