David completed his Ph.D. degree in EECS with a minor in Mathematics and Micro-electromechanical Systems and became an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Hawaii, Manoa. He was awarded the 2007 Sevin Rosen Fund Award for Innovation, 2008 Ross N. Tucker Award, and a Microelectronics Fellowship. He also placed first in the 2007 HKUST Business Plan Competition for a plan to commercialize work on micro-scanned projectors. He is currently a Co-PI on a $1 million grant studying renewable energies for island sustainability.
