Vipul is a second year M.S. student in Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, advised by Prof. Aditya Parameswaran. His research goal is to use crowdsourcing to solve problems in data analysis that are currently not possible to be fully automated by machines. He completed his Bachelor's in CS from IIT Bombay, where he worked on query optimization techniques that can automatically re-plan queries for systems using large data. During his internship at Microsoft Research, he developed efficient sampling techniques for probabilistic programs. Vipul led a team of 18 seniors at IIT Bombay in an effort to mentor undergraduates needing educational support. As a part of the Department Undergraduate Committee, he was involved in conducting open houses and in restructuring the undergraduate curriculum.
