Sung Jin is a bioengineering PhD student in the Cochran Lab at Stanford University, developing novel protein therapeutics for applications in wound healing. He spent his undergraduate career at Caltech, where he received his B.S. in chemical engineering with an emphasis in biomolecular engineering. At Stanford, Sung Jin has been working on applying protein engineering methods for creating novel growth factor proteins with enhanced properties for therapeutic uses. He has helped to write a book chapter providing a general overview of rational and combinatorial methods for protein engineering. He has also participated in the Stanford Biodesign program, in which he helped to invent and prototype a novel diagnostics device for improving prostate cancer diagnosis. Previously, he completed internships at Aridis Pharmaceuticals, Caltech, UC Berkeley, and the Ragon Institute of Harvard, MIT, and MGH.
