Samantha Steele is a coterminal (MS) student in Computer Science with a systems focus. She completed her BS degree in Mathematical and Computational Science. As an undergraduate, she pursued research on the Multi-scale Architecture and Systems Team, where she applied machine-learning to improve the efficiency of cloud data centers. She interned on the Dropbox Analytics Team, where she developed a graph visualization tool that was launched into production in fall 2015. She is a firm believer in the application of CS for social benefit. While at Dropbox she was the lead engineer on the Dropbox for Human Rights project, which designed technological solutions to empower human rights activists. She is also a four-year student-athlete on the Stanford Varsity Sailing Team with the team ranked 1st in the nation three of her four years. A native of San Francisco, she hopes to remain in the Bay Area working as a software engineer after graduation.
