Pao is a Computer Science Ph.D. candidate at Harvard University, advised by Krzysztof Gajos. Her research explores how to apply intelligent technologies to help people come up with and express creative ideas. Her work on tools and interventions to support idea generation in large creative online communities is published in venues on human computer interaction and cognition. Pao organized two HCOMP’s CrowdCamp workshops, which brought together HCI and crowdsourcing researchers and industry practitioners to develop concrete ideas for crowdsourcing. Pao has interned at NVIDIA and Adobe and TA’d courses on HCI and introductory computer science. Before starting her Ph.D. program, Pao attended Stanford University. She received the Stanford President’s Award for Academic Excellence and was a Social Chair of Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society. She also led a youth leadership project on education in Laos and recently gave a workshop to teach seniors how to use mobile technology.
