Nipun is a Master’s degree candidate in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois, Urbana‐Champaign. His research interests lie in Distributed Systems, and he has been involved in various projects related to virtualization and cloud computing since his undergraduate years. He received his B.Tech in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahai, India in 2010. Currently, Nipun is interning with the Cloud Platforms team at Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, where he is working on highly available and replicated cloud databases. Since fall 2010 he has been a teaching assistant in the Department of Computer Science at Illinois, where he appeared on the “List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent by Their Students” for fall 2010. In summer 2009, Nipun was one of the few students selected for the undergraduate research internship program at EPFL Switzerland, and his research there was published at HotCloud’10 and VEE’11. He enjoys adventure sports, playing volleyball, and cooking.
