After graduating from the Illinois Mathematics Science Academy, Katrina Gossman joined the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana‐Champaign in 2007. There she completed the 5‐year B.S./M.S. program. She became interested in research as an undergraduate, starting work with Professor Steve LaValle’s robotics group as a research assistant, and completing her Master's Thesis with him. Her research focused on the minimalist manipulation of simple ergodic bodies. At Illinois, she has also been an active member in Women in Computer Science, spending a year as the Tech Team director and a semester as one of the Graduate Representatives. She has also been an active participant in the Games4Girls competition for two years, an active member of ACM for three years, and has presented several projects at Engineering Open House. Prior to working for Professor LaValle, Katrina was a student systems administer for the Department’s Technology Services Group. She is currently a Software Developer at Geneca in Chicago, IL where she has worked since graduating in 2012. She is also enlisted in the Army Reserves.
