Karan Kashyap is an MEng. candidate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, working with the Spoken Language Systems group at CSAIL. He earned his SB in computer science from MIT in 2016. His research focuses on developing a personal nutritionist mobile application that leverages machine learning and natural language processing to interact with users like a human nutritionist would. Karan is passionate about entrepreneurship. He cofounded Posh Development, a mobile app development company, and Mikey’s Run, a nonprofit that raised over $230,000 for victims of the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing. Karan interned with machine vision startup Percolata and technology investment firm Matrix. He also worked part-time with venture fund Square Peg Capital. Karan has been dedicated to the entrepreneurship community at MIT. He ran the Discover Entrepreneurship and Leadership Program in 2015, which introduces aspiring MIT entrepreneurs and student leaders to valuable resources at MIT and the Boston area.
