Josh is currently employed at Bolt Threads, which is creating the next generation of performance fibers and fabrics using proprietary breakthroughs in industrial biotechnology. We combine biology, automation, and fermentation with advanced computational and analytical methods to create programmable polymers, sustainably, at industrial scale. Josh earned his Ph.D. in the UC Berkeley, UC San Francisco Joint Graduate Group in Bioengineering. His research, performed under J. Christopher Anderson at UC Berkeley, focused on applying engineering principles to manipulate microbial systems. Before entering the Ph.D. program, Josh received bachelor degrees in both Biochemistry and Computer Engineering at the University of Arizona.
