David Cummings is a Master’s student at Stanford University. While at Georgetown University, he was Bass Section Leader, VP, and President of the Concert Choir and organized a charity concert which benefited Toys for Tots. From 2008-2010, he worked on the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program, teaching English in Hokkaido to elementary students and adults. While in Japan, he was an actor and producer for the volunteer-organized Hokkaido Players Musical coordinating rehearsals, and working with locals to arrange and promote the shows. The musical operated at a profit for the first time in three years, with excess revenue donated to the Hokkaido English Challenge Camp. At Stanford, he will work as a TA for Introduction to Databases in the fall, and this past winter and spring he worked with CS Chair, Jennifer Widom, to create videos and new problem sets for a freely available, online version of the course.
