Ben is a Distinguished Graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, earning a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. While there, he served as Deputy Group Commander over 1000 of his peers and briefed a Three Star General on the results of an environmental incident study at Pacific Air Force bases. Upon graduating, he attended Arizona State University, earning an M.S. degree while analyzing pavement performance data for a new national design guide. After his studies, Ben served as an F-15E fighter pilot in the Air Force leading 42 combat missions over Iraq. His additional deployed duties included serving as his squadron’s liaison to the mission planning process for the entire Middle Eastern theatre. While in the Air Force, Ben also was instrumental in planning and executing installation-wide combat readiness exercises. After the military, Ben coordinated construction activities for a wastewater treatment facility expansion as project engineer.
