Akhil Langer is a second year M.S. student in the Department of Computer Science at University of Illinois at Urbana‐Champaign. He received his B. Tech. in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee in 2010. His B. Tech. Thesis Project was awarded the Innovative Students Project Award by the Indian National Academy of Engineers for its potential and impact in the developing regions like India. His research interests are High Performance Computing, Parallel Algorithms, Cloud Computing and Information Retrieval. During his undergraduate studies, he interned at IBM India Research Lab, where he developed a BioMedical Question Answering System for SMS users. Also as an undergraduate, he interned at UPCRC, UIUC, working on a Large Scale Data Annotating program. Currently, he works on Scalable Parallel Algorithms that enable applications to maximally harness the compute power of the upcoming peta and exa‐scale supercomputers. For his work, he collaborates with researchers from varied fields and likes to interact with people.
