Gary received undergraduate degrees from MIT in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) and Biology with a minor degree in Biomedical Engineering and Economics.He also has an M.Eng. in EECS from MIT from his research in the Grozinsky Lab (Biological Engineering Division, Harvard-MIT Division of Health, Sciences, and Technology, and EECS).He entered the UC Berkeley/UCSF Bioengineering Joint Graduate Group in fall, 2004 and plans to finish his Ph.D. work in the Conolly Lab (Bioengineering) in summer 2010. He is currently researching biomedical imaging, specifically in the field of MRI. Gary has taken an active role in the Bioengineering community, having previously served on the Graduate Admissions Committee, Conference Planning Committee, Alumni Committee, and the Bioengineering graduate student group Social Committee.He also served as a volunteer graduate student instructor and reader/grader for the Bioengineering departments image processing and MRI classes. In addition, he is active in the graduate student organization, having organized events such as a bake sale for American Red Cross hurricane relief and a triathlon/BBQ race event to promote community well-being and health.
