Brina is a Master's student in Robotics. She graduated from the University of Calgary in 2008 with a B.Sc. with Honours in Computer Science with a minor in Music, where she also pursued research in Multi-Agent Communication and Software Engineering. There she received the Hugh and Archie Bothner Bursary, awarded to four students in Science and Engineering. Her undergraduate research in both multi-agent communication and software engineering was funded by national scholarships, leading to the National Science and Engineering Research Council Canadian Graduate Scholarship, the highest national science and engineering scholarship awarded in Canada. Brina developed a software development tool for visualizing source code, which has been accepted for publication. For her Master's degree she shifted her focus to medical robotics. She is currently working on HeartLander, a miniature mobile robot that assists with surgical procedures on the heart.
