Nick Santhanam is an Principal in McKinsey & Company’s Silicon Valley Office, where he has worked primarily in the areas of operations/ manufacturing improvement and strategy development for high-tech companies. His recent experience includes, manufacturing costs reduction in wafer fabs for top 10 IC player, due diligence on leading secondary aluminum producer cost base to identify margin improvement opportunities, lean-rollout across multiple wafer manufacturing fabs for mid tier IDM in US and Japan, lean-out ECO/product introduction process for top 3 Datacomm player, vertical integration strategy and Opex cost reduction for a “tier 1” EMS player, due diligence on a ERP software company for a private equity firm, market attractiveness and foundry entry study for a top 5 semiconductor company that was looking to diversify to maintain margins, customer segmentation study for an EDA company. Prior to joining McKinsey, Mr. Santhanam worked as a Technical Manager at Taconic (a PCB board manufacturer), Petersburgh, NY. Prior to Taconic, he worked as a manufacturing engineer at Arlon (also a PCB board manufacturer) in their Bear, DE facility. Mr. Santhanam has a M.S. in Chemical Engineering from University of Illinois and an M.B.A. in Strategic management and Finance from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He graduated as a Ford and Palmer scholar from Wharton.
