Michael is a Sr. Computer Scientist at NASA Ames Research Center. He holds a Ph.D. in Robotics, an M.S. in Computer Science, and a B.S. in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University. His thesis work focused on visual search and tracking using teams of small UAVs. His overarching research vision is to develop complete intelligent robotic systems with real world impact. This is taking the form of a current practical focus on state estimation and planning for mobile robots, to which he is interested in applying recent advances in machine learning.
