2007 - John Law

At a time when investors were pulling their equity out of mutual funds, John Law’s firm, Dimensional Fund Advisors, was continuing to attract a broad range of investors—from institutions and endowments to high net worth individuals.  John credits his colleagues at Dimensional Fund Advisors with maintaining the firm’s exceptional performance, integrity, and service over the years, which recently led them to the Institutional Investor’s 2010 Quantitative Fund Manager of the Year Award.  In addition to the strength of the firm’s reputation and its products, John enjoys the mix of analytical and interpersonal skill sets required of his job.

John has always been interested in all aspects of finance:  developing analytical and quantitative skills, as well as client relationship management.  John studied finance as an undergraduate at Princeton University and at graduate school at Cambridge University.  Prior to business school, he gained experience in the field as an Investment Banker at Credit Suisse First Boston and as a Vice President at IndyMac Bank.  Today, in his role on the international desk, he is the head foreign exchange trader for all US-based mutual funds, in addition to managing international equity portfolios.

John has been an active member of the Siebel Scholars Advisory Board and often recruits less involved Siebel Scholars to join the community’s initiatives and activities planned across the country–and internationally.  In his spare time, John travels and cycles—both of which he enjoyed while chasing the Tour de France through the Alps following business school.  On occasion, John also lends his voice to various causes and brands as a semi-professional voiceover talent.
