2006 - Estefania Pickens

Estefania is an Interactive Show Producer Associate for Walt Disney Imagineering, in charge of the creative vision and delivery of interactive projects, including five new experiences currently being developed for passengers aboard the Disney Dream, the next addition to the Disney Cruise Line. 

These experiences are designed to engage families in new interactive ways while on board Disney cruises.  The Enchanted Art project, for example, draws participants into a storyline that is revealed as viewers engage with interactive framed paintings. When someone passes by a painting somewhere on the cruise ship, it animates to life—revealing a short scene that previously has not been seen.  Another project, an adventure game called Midship Detective Agency, uses these paintings as portals into a game that cruise passengers can play – they solve mysteries, catch villains, and save the day.

Estefania likes managing vendors to bring these Disney projects to life.  But what she enjoys most is watching users play her games.  She takes the most pride in her work when she sees a family working together to solve a mystery or a child gaining confidence because he’s won a game.

Estefania has a Bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon.  She likes hiking, cooking, organic coffee, and has been working on writing a young adult novel in her spare time.
